I say this a lot but the Four Seasons Conference remains one of the funniest things that has ever happened in human history. Some of us have been gaslit into being told it was "cringe" or "resist lib" and it wasn't. It just hands down a fantastic, roaringly hilarious thing from start to finish.

Don't get me wrong, I love when they say the story title in the dialogue — I think it's the fun sort of cheesy — but I thought the one from Monster of Peladon always felt a bit forced.

Exactly as predicted: Elder abuse. This is from Danny Trejo’s son, Gilbert Trejo. Not only did Ben Shapiro’s camp trick the elder Trejo about what the movie really was, he apparently signed a contract barring him from even putting out a statement about it.

For anyone seeing this shit with my dad...
He was booked on a film, it's not pro-ice, it's not overtly pro anything. His agent described it as "a complicated story about a complicated time, where everyone looks bad except you, the hardworking Mexican shop owner who just wants peace"
He jumped at the idea of playing a good guy.
About 2 weeks into shooting everyone, including us, found out Ben Shapiro was involved.
My 82 year old dad has never heard of Ben Shapiro, I had to explain to him who that is, and what kind of guy he is.
My dad contractually can't bad mouth him, the film, or walk away without being sued for breach of contract. He couldn't even release the statement he wanted to.
It's fucked up. He's handcuffed to this stupid project, and swaths of people have instantly turned their back on him without knowing any of the facts.
Ben Shapiro got Mexicans to abandon one of their heroes, got his own name to the top of google's searches, and made us look like angry fools lacking any nuance. He wins.

Yesterday's funeral had an a.i. Order of Service which is clearly a thing now, but the Moment of Reflection was a 6 min a.i. generated song about the life of the deceased. It clearly meant a lot to the family, but I'm not sure my face was entirely convincing when they later asked for my opinion.

My theory is that the stubbornness, brittleness etc all flows from the fact the vote was in fact quite close. If it had been 60/40 there's room for magnanimity, worrying about losers' consent etc... but 52/48? Show weakness and it might slip away, somehow.

Either this show will be a massive failure, which will have big commercial consequences and therefore terrible creative ones elsewhere in HBO/Skydance, or it will be a success, which will result in new frontiers of padding across every other established property.

Season 1, which has wrapped production in May, will have the much-needed room to breathe. Flynn shared Harry Potter will have ten hours of footage, which means it will expand its runtime beyond one-hour,
"I think it's great, there's a lot more scope in the series to play with nuance, because obviously the films are sort of two hours versus ten hours of TV, so there's the opportunity to pull out different shades.
