It just feels much more accurate for me personally to identify as they/them in these realms. I almost always play with a character that is an extension of myself. Being he/him in real life is accurate but playing a fantasy version of myself definitely feels like that version is a “them”

As a gamer who leans heavily towards RPGs they consists of worlds built around not only more fantasy races such as elves, dwarves, halflings and others, not to mention alien races, angels/demons and magic users it just makes so much more sense to have more pronouns.

I really like that more games allow you to choose your pronouns because I enjoy playing as nonbinary characters. Like if I ended up in the world's of Avowed or Starfield, I think I'd probably use they/them pronouns. Maybe fantasy and space feel more real that way to me. Idk but it sure is fun!
