*so important*: if you’re voting by mail, assume the USPS will delay because it’s its policy. You can: —put it in drop box —go to counter to watch them postmark in front of you —if you’re dropping it in a mailbox, do it VERY EARLY.

my small son has been wearing a superman cape we got from goodwill all day every day for ... two weeks? three weeks? and asking that we all call him superman, and pretending he's superman. which is very funny because his understanding of superman as a concept is rudimentary at best

this is what the segments would look like on a left-wing fox news right now - should trump be impeached over gas prices? - a count of the number of times he said the strait was opened - hegseths obsession with erect penis and hairless bodies - another gas price segment - silly animals

So Meta will always choose to pay, rather than to fight, because then it doesn't have to change. The initial investigation by the FTC into Facebook's abuse of its users was *SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO*, and that one also ended in a settlement. After which, they... went back to abuse their users.

Meta is a creep who will _never_ take no for an answer, and never stop trying to ignore their lack of consent. Every media & regulatory organization in the world seems determined to ignore this reality; I genuinely don't understand why. Today's settlement is so that Meta can keep violating consent.

Ancient women fucking the jar man for jars
Ceramic sculpture of a kneeling figure carrying five round jars, from the Colima tradition of ancient West Mexico. The burnished reddish-orange earthenware is mottled with dark manganese spots. The figure balances one large jar on its head and shoulders while supporting others across its back and sides, arms raised to steady the load. It rests on a small black mount atop a wooden pedestal, with a gallery display case and concrete wall blurred in the background.

TIL Rube Goldberg told his kids to change their surnames and one picked George and so the other, already named George, also adopted it to keep the family together, ending up as George George. I now believe Luigi Mario and Mario Mario came to be under the exact same circumstances.
Goldberg married Irma Seeman on October 17, 1916.[5] They lived at 98 Central Park West in New York City and had two sons: Thomas and George. During World War II, as each of his sons headed off to college, Goldberg insisted that they change their surname because of antisemitic sentiment toward him stemming from the political nature of his cartoons.[9] Thomas chose the surname George, and his brother, whose given name was already George, followed suit. In adopting the same surname, George wanted to keep a sense of family cohesiveness.

40 years ago, it was so common for men to have a beautiful house with a beautiful wife that he would frequently confuse them for another’s. Sometimes they wouldn’t even know how they had arrived at said location in a large automobile. Now the days have gone by and men struggle to achieve either.

My privilege to share some lovely stories from the science community about what Sam Neill's timeless performance as Dr. Alan Grant in Jurassic Park meant to them—and why it will continue to inspire kids to chase their own discoveries for years to come.

A key to staying sane in trying times is to realize that your ability to create change, even in the best of times, is very limited, but your ability to make yourself feel bad about politics, or anything really, is basically unlimited and making yourself feel bad doesn’t make change more likely

One thing I learned when I was just out of college and watching 6-8 hours of Fox News a day for my research job at Media Matters: Ingesting hours of propaganda on a daily basis changes you, no matter how smart you think you are. If you don't notice the changes, that just makes you an easier mark.
