There are up to 8,000 species of katydids in family Tettigoniidae, 255 in North America alone. But this hot pink katydid isn't some exotic species, it's a 'morph', a normal genetic color variant. Here's the weird part: this is the DOMINANT color gene in katydids. (📷: Audubon Zoo)

On the one hand, it's just dumb. Universities are, in fact, real, and they exist in the world. American universities employ about 3x as many people as there are active duty servicemembers, so if soldiers are "real," then so are academics.

Here’s the thing about the Anthropic story. When I worked on biofuels at the EBI funded by BP, it was clear that BP did not have the capacity to think about any product less than 1 MMT (million metric ton for those who use eppendorf tubes). Where does Anthropic see this going?
