Temperatures in the Central Pacific El Niño region are the hottest ever measured (top panel), and far above any other El Niño at this time of year. But, if you adjust for the warming of the global ocean, the current trajectory is not so different from other very strong events.

I find it weird that the reaction to calling LLMs “stochastic parrots” (a statement about *how they work*) is to deny it because of their apparent capabilities. The reaction should be “isn’t is interesting what a stochastic parrot can (apparently) do?” or to query the appearance.
