King Charles told me the public keeps eating his prime ministers so l asked how many prime ministers he has and he said he just goes to the parliament and gets a new prime minister afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding prime ministers to the public and then his son started crying.

You've probably been wondering: "How many eels is a cottage worth in 14th C. England?" This is a reasonable question. I get it. And happily, I'm here to help! I included a chart showing this kind of equivalence in an article I wrote for HistoryExtra , but here's an excerpt! 🗃️🧪
Table showing cost of items in the 14th C., and the equivalent value in eels. The table has 3 columns: "You want to buy", "It Costs", and "But in eels?" The table shows you that:

2 doz. eggs costs 1d, or 6 eels
A gallon of the best ale costs 1.25d or 8 eels
1 sheep costs 1s 5d, or 106 eels
1 cow costs 9s 5d, or 706 eels
A 2-story cottage costs £2, or 3,000 eels

The d. here means penny, from the latin "denarius." There were 12 d. to a shilling (s), and 20 shillings to a pound (£).

As far as I know, no one was buying cottages with eels. This is more to give you a sense of relative costs. But wouldn't it be interesting if you could buy a house with eels?

This chart leaves unanswered the question: "What about the next-best ale?" and suggests and entire spectrum of ale gradations. Which makes good sense, of course. But also, you certainly wouldn't want to spend your eels on inferior ale!

M is for maybe this starts with an m
N is for next letter, and that one's an n
E is for easy, like spelling this word
M is for magpie, the stealingest bird
O is for only three more letters to go
N is for nearly there, you mnemonic pro
I is for imminent, this poem's end
C is for congratulations, my spellingwell friend

Horses. Up there with bicycles as the bane of many an artist. However, I figured out a foolproof way of drawing them, and I want to share that with you! 😊
5 panel comic

P1: Title. "HOW TO DRAW A HORSE"

P2: "SKETCH A SHAPE LIKE THIS"

Beneath, we see a pencil sketch of a kinda squooshed rectangtangtangtangtangle

P3: "TURN IT INTO A HEAD"

The shape is now a horse head. This shape, it gives head.

P4: "NOW, COMPLETE THAT HORSE!"

We dolly back to see the glorious complete abomination. The head simply has four legs jutting out of it.

P5: A wide panel, showing the crime against creation frolicking through a field. A blue sky filled with fluffy pink clouds fills the background. On the top left, a single word

"congratulation"

Either Bluesky picked the perfect moment to act up, or...
A skeet by someone whose name is blurred (they prefer to limit their interactions). The picture shows Neil Armstrong and a grey typical alien. Above it is the text 'Neil Armstrong was the first person to land on the moon. 'Neil A.' Backwards is 'Alien'. Below the picture is a notification of a text message, ostensibly by the FBI, that reads 'Delete that shit right now'. Immediately after that skeet loaded, Bluesky encountered an error and showed 'There was an issue fetching posts. Tap here to try again.'
