Our school doesn't just have a #bikebus, there's also a run club that meets, trains and runs to school together (another weekday). The parent organizer asked for a volunteer to drive all the kids backpacks to school. My husband said why drive when you could cargo bike?! 25 bags delivered this week.

Taxes below the rate of inflation means getting less. I value having sewers, snow clearing, sidewalks, roads, pools, libraries, fire service, parks, life guards, building inspections, etc Those costs increased by more than 2.5 % There is no major fat left to trim in the City of #Ottawa's budget.

Alternatively, if some Canadian patriots wanted to get together, we could buy Postmedia. Foreign owned shares can convert to Canadian class C shares it seems. Not 1-to-1 but still, they're out there. And Voya seems to want to sell. Just saying, it wouldn't cost that much.

Similarly I'm bothered that bike lanes are always pushed onto side roads and giant sprawling parking lots add like 3 minutes to accessing stores from the street on foot. Shouldnt parking lots be at the back since they can zip around the block in 20 seconds?

Its bizarre to me that the pervasive opinion seems to be that drivers should have the most direct routes/maximal access to every building, when they are driving fast moving vehicles where travel times are minimally impacted by route changes.
