Big fan of Passan, but by this measure, every team except one will ultimately fail to “save their season.” I find that outlook entirely too grim. Out of 30 teams, 29 will either fail to make the playoffs or end the season by losing a series. I cannot accept that they are all failures.

I have said many times: I’m not really postseason oriented, and this is why. I love the low stakes of a summer baseball game. I get so much less joy from it when it’s like MUST WIN RAR. Everything I most like about watching baseball evaporates in the postseason.
