Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.

I wish more people would address this as an executive problem. No logging, no moderation, no observability, ... Palworld has more security. For decades people (like me) could cause entire outages in entire regions. Jail or fired if I did. In most of these scenarios, some mechanism should stop me.

As someone who majored in applied maths (essentially algorithm design) and computer vision (essentially "teach a computer to interpret a picture like a human but better"), yeah, all of this. On top of everything else LLMs are making the "AI" research field poorer

Will keep boringly saying this (no disrespect to OP): it's not a health surcharge. It's not hypothecated to the NHS; you can't choose not to pay it and thereby eschew healthcare. You could equally call it an education or roads surcharge. It's using the NHS's sanctified status to rip off immigrants.
