Everything about this is just completely terrifying - thank God for the brave passengers who dragged the attacker off, and thank God there were a couple of pilots deadheading on the flight who could take over flying the plane

I’ve been a media witness to two federal executions. One was Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh. The other, a week later, was a drug kingpin named Juan Raul Garza. My conclusion after watching both men die: The death penalty should not exist. Period. It fixes nothing, and it erodes our souls.

Happy #CelebrityTraitors day to those who celebrate! Can I suggest that those who don't, and those who moan about spoilers during live discussions, mute the hashtag? And those who do partake, please use the hashtag.

When I worked at the FT in the 90s, Borough Market was a rough, tatty wholesale market under a decaying Victorian structure. The nearby pubs were mostly about the market traders, and it felt properly dodgy walking through the market in the evening.

So much of the menopause and perimenopause discourse is designed to make women feel like shit and then flog us stuff. And the net effect is that we end up presenting ourselves as ditzy "meno-brain" incompetents.

AI companies can't access encrypted messages on your device. Which is a reminder to always use end-to-end encrypted apps - Signal, WhatsApp - when you're messaging others. Messenger can do encrypted messages but I think it's still off by default. If you use Messenger, turn on encryption there.

You absolutely can be "hard-working" if you're relying on the state pension: there are plenty of people still working after pensionable age. And that's not counting grandparents stepping up to look after children, or pensioners caring for their unwell partner etc.

One tricky thing about working with AI at any scale, personal agent or big company testing stuff, is really carefully thinking through how it does things and what guardrails you need to define. It's applying the "what could possibly go wrong" test on steroids.

And some of us older family members do tech support for the Gen Z and Gen A family members because they have no sense at all of what goes on under the hood and if they can't make it work by stabbing impotently at an icon on their phone they're stuffed.

reading the London property market discourse and it feels like there's a big disconnect between "building new homes is good" (which I agree with) and "buying newbuild flats is insane because service charges/fears over cladding/vile sweatboxes in summer".

Good, but please stop saying "agents go rogue". AI agents don't "go rogue". They pursue the goals they're set, and if the humans who set those goals don't give them limits, then obviously there's a good chance they'll do something humans consider bad in pursuit of those goals.

Minor thing but I hate "helm" as a verb: it's a stupid word because it flattens meaning. It's a pompous catch-all word for "lead", but you can do better than that. I presume Watts will be directing this? If so, say "direct". Or maybe he's exec-producing? Idk, the stupid word "helm" doesn't tell you.
