And I just don't think the Beatles films will go there, I don't think anyone will sanction the George film where Paul is a controlling prick and the Paul film where nothing fucking gets done unless he chivvies the others into it.

Praise be! For it is the 157th anniversary of the discovery of the Cardiff Giant, when (in the Cardiff that’s in New York State, just south of Syracuse, rather than Wales) definitive proof was found that giants once roamed the Earth, just as it says in the Bible
A banner advertising the Cardiff giant, calling it ‘genuine’, ‘original’, and “the most valuable single exhibit in the world today”. There are people milling about

Just looking through a 1986 edition of Private Eye and just spotted this story about "Brush Strokes" apparently being plagiarised which I've never heard before. Anyone know anything about this?
A story about aspiring writer Tom Boyes submitting a script called Brush Strokes to the BBC, being turned down and then learning of the Esmonde / Larbey series a year later.

I don't think LLMs are conscious because I know (roughly) how they work and that work doesn't require consciousness, and there's no reason to think consciousness would be an emergent property of the software, any more than it would for, say, Microsoft Word, which no one thinks is conscious.

Do we really need to explain to people that it is really, REALLY important to read to young children? Like, you, personally, need to read to your child - your voice, your face, your hand gestures, your lap, your arms, your closeness. What kind of parent doesn't know this in their bones?

I just don't get it. The BBC's seemingly preferential treatment of political parties that would happily see it abolished. So concerned with the optics of appearing 'impartial' that it ends up looking biased in favour of those who want rid of it. Please make it make sense. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.
