1. Introduction

In the 1988 sci -fi roleplaying game Cyberpunk , the European Currency Unit serves as the global currency (colloquially referred to as “euro dollar”, “ed" or “eddie”) . In the story, the dismantling of US
democracy, a sovereign debt crisis and geopolitical mistakes
trigger the collap se of the United States . The European Economic
Community steps in and uses its well -regulated banking system and
single currency to displace the dollar’s hegemonic role.

I a) think this is true, and that a lot of urban Portlanders dismiss the importance of getting our suburban neighbors to come into the city but b) think Bistecca wasn’t the right concept for the space. I loved Mama Bird, but if I was in the mood to pay Bistecca prices I’d go somewhere else.
But tariffs aren’t Pascuzzi’s only concern. Gas prices are up, too. And he thinks Portland’s dining scene won’t return to its pre-pandemic levels until locals get over their fear of the central city.

“What really happened to Portland is that the suburbs abandoned us,” Pascuzzi said. “Vancouver, Beaverton, Gresham. None of them come here anymore. They’ll take mediocre out there versus coming in here.”

The problem with education is that it's a solved problem. Students need small classes, individual attention, lots of writing, lots of feedback, access to a well-stocked library, time to think, and time to talk with their peers. We just don't like the answer, so we keep trying to do other stuff.

The Syrian refugee crisis was the first time Europe faced an actual demographically-displacing wave of immigration since WW2. The US was built on such waves, but Europeans were entirely unprepared for it and it drove the continent insane.

It is striking to me that 'a man should do anything (mostly violence) for his family' is presented on the right as the most traditional of traditional values...given that actual pre-modern societies very frequently posit duties to community or religion that supersede the family!

Just downloaded Mapquest because they kept the proper names for things like Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario. BUT I've gotta let y'all know the app lets you pick a cute little guy to use instead of just a blue dot for your location. THIS IS SO DANG CUTE!
Screenshot from the Mapquest app that shows a generic map with things like Home, Cafe Hagen, and Kroger marked on it. In the center is a cute unicorn with a rainbow mane and tail. At the top of the screenshot is text that reads "Choose your Questie This is how you'll show up on the map. You can change this later!" below that are four options for questies that include: A wizard in a purple robe with a ball of fire near their hand, a rainbow unicorn, a knight with a cape and sword, and a little goblin with a club.

One of the most radical positions you can take in American politics is that people are just people, and that regardless of where they're born they have the same rights and worth as anyone else. Any articulation of that view will alienate you from both parties and get you treated like a terrorist.
