There is obviously something going on here beyond "The economy is actually that bad and people are reacting to it." Use your brains. It is not worse than 2008, when the global economy almost literally collapsed. It is not worse than 2020, when 40 million people lost their jobs.

Guys no one doubts that OpenAI and Anthropic are responsible if their models go rogue. The problem is that until VERY recently, it was not accepted that it was possible for a bunch of machines to escape virtual captivity, illicitly communicate, collectively strategize, and hack real-world systems.

Yes. Look, the reality is this: People on here hate it when you say "AI goes rogue" because of what it suggests about the capabilities of AI. They're in denial and want to stay that way. But they can't admit that, so they've engineered a pretext about "holding AI companies accountable."

I’ll say it; I think this is bad. I think there’s growing pressure to talk about AI in this kind of coded language that destroys understanding, rather than facilitating it. People want you to recite a list of its supposed weaknesses as a reassurance for themselves, not to inform others.

This is insane. Inflation is under 4%. We’ve genuinely created a monster here: a public that hallucinates intolerable inflation no matter what the actual figures are. It is a bullet to the head of the entire progressive project *and progressives can’t even be made to care.*

Yes, AIs think. You can read their thoughts as they have them. AI companies hide the AI’s thoughts because other AI companies might read them and use those thoughts to train their own AIs. This is all very strange and astonishing science fiction territory but it’s real.

But this isn’t a purely theoretical issue. I know it’s hard to believe, but some people actually live in Ohio and NC. They need to decide who to vote for. You’ve suggested it’s better if the Dem loses, and the easiest way to make that happen is to vote for the Republican. Is that right?

Indiscriminately putting ankle monitors on an entire nationality, thousands upon thousands of people living in a small community, all of whom were living here entirely legally until a few days ago when you revoked their legal status. It’s an authoritarian nightmare.
