In many red states, it's simply a question of whether you can get Trump's endorsement. So we wind up with idiots like Eric Schmitt, Tuberville and Darline Graham, if she wins I mean, Georgia Republicans nominated Herschel Walker because Trump told them to, for G-d's sake. And he almost beat Ossoff

Eric Schmitt is what happens when a state becomes so red that you don’t need to be a talented politician to become a US Senator. And to be fair, there are examples of this in blue states too. Iron sharpens iron.

What's fun about this whole contretemps and why it's worth watching again is how smirky Schmitt starts out - this is going to be his big moment – and how honest a puzzled Smith comes off, and how sharp Klobuchar was to quickly figure out the basic mistake. And then how pissy Schmitt gets at her.
