I forgot to take some Lacteeze before I ate yogurt at around midday yesterday. The pain kicked in nearly 12 hours later on the way home, and I have spent the last 5 hours regretting my choices and consuming peppermint tea and ginger and Buscopan. I do NOT like this aspect of aging at all, people..

There is no such thing as art without a human on one end of the line and a human on the other end. In communication with each other.
A city that exists
There is no such thing as art without a human on one end of the line and a human on the other end. In communication with each other. Like a closed electric circuit (?) I could explain that better but I spent my life appreciating art. There are pieces of writing that stand on their own without any supplementary information but there's a reason that when we read a classic poem or short story we usually soon after want to know when and where and under which conditions it was written. Same with music. You can hear a song you like and appreciate it knowing little but the first question people often ask when you play them something by a new band is where are they from? It’s funny that you should ask because they are from a city that exists. Art is a conversation where the particulars of the world are made universal and the universal is made particular. Think about how powerful an engine of imagination it is for a young person hearing a band and learning that they are from some far off place – Tokyo or New York or even somewhere gross like the UK. It is a time portal. It is magic. It even works if the artist dead. So too with a painting. The little information plaque in the museum is an extraordinarily powerful tool. What if it said no one painted this nowhere? Well then you’d be looking at nothing. And now what would you be?

I could really use help with groceries, legal / court fees, and cat stuff, too. Also my hearing aids are beyond repair now. They were old. I got them with a grant from the Rauschenberg Foundation and cannot afford new ones. Scared about that for court. $4500 specialty aid (NO I cannot use Air Pods).

It’s not a mental illness. It’s white supremacy. It’s racial capitalism. Queerness should have never been designated as a mental illness but the response cannot be to further stigmatize folks who are mentally ill by linking those who hoard wealth and power with illness.

The current Blackwell's bestseller chart, with my new book (out Sep 15th) at number one.

Another thing about Tim Curry
screenshot of a Tumblr post from user theweirdwideweb:

"Another thing about Tim Curry. After his stroke when he became a wheelchair user, he did not allow himself to be sat in a corner & hidden from the public eye. He kept working, kept going to cons, kept making appearances. He became a highly visible example of a beloved ablebodied person who suddenly became disabled. I think his refusal to disappear helped destigmatize disability and helped fans better understand what it's like to love someone through a disabling life change."

“For the love of Goddess, please stop asking vulnerable people to make community to survive when our current reality is dictated by desirability politics & social capital.

“People cannot just ‘create community,’ we cannot slap a Band-Aid on generations of wounding. It requires going to the root of this, it requires time, slowness, darkness, it requires healing. Most of us are not doing this work because we do not have the resources, time, education, or space. Those who are are also having to contend with such a broken system that is daily traumatizing, making any progress feel impossible at times.
I understand why people are saying this, and also the container matters. If we apply solutions that worked in a different container to our broken container, they will not work until we get at the root of what is making the container broken. This is NOT easy, linear, clean, cute, pretty, sweet, etc. In my experience, it requires cracking open and gathering and internal strength, unlike anything we have ever witnessed.
This is my purpose. To help support people in this work. Truth telling.
For the love of Goddess, please stop asking vulnerable people to make community to survive when our current reality is dictated by desirability politics & social capital.
Even the radical left is often a popularity contest, even DJ [disability justice]!
I believe in the power of community building as long as we are doing this healing work together and making [text cuts off]”

If there was a surface, Maud Lewis painted on it. She turned her small home into a colourful work of art. While she was born with birth defects, she never let that stop her from capturing the beauty she saw in the world. This is her story. 📸 Art Canada Institute 🧵 1/12
Maud Lewis sits at a small table in a brightly decorated room, smiling warmly while holding a paintbrush and a small object in her hands. She wears a floral apron over a green dress and a headscarf. Around her are painting supplies, including jars, brushes, and a dark container on the table. The walls and nearby surfaces are covered with colorful folk-art paintings of flowers, animals, and simple scenes, filling the small space with bright reds, yellows, greens, and blues. Sunlight from the right side illuminates her face and the cluttered painting area.
