this was difficult to read, but it's important to know people are currently in prison for 50+ years for attending a protest + one wasn't even at the protest, but got sentenced for 30 years for "concealing" anarchist zines

been enjoying nivalis nights (cyberpunk restaurant sim) & this one post on the reddit cracked me up:
Everything was great, and then apparently one of my waiters drank customer drinks, all day, and tanked me down to 2 stars. What is going on?! Why can't I deo something about this? There are about 80 of these reviews.

(a series of complaints about the waiter drinking the customers' drinks)

Since so much of it is out there at the moment…

I’ve seen the take that rape is “a fate worse than death” a lot. This is usually from well-meaning people who want SA to be taken as seriously as it should be in a society that regularly sacrifices victims at the altars of Men With Bright Futures.

But it’s wrong. And it’s damaging and dangerous for victims to hear. You are not better off dead than raped.

After your assault, you’ll navigate the feelings of betrayal and anger and hurt. You may experience suicidal ideation. You probably will. But you are not better off dead than raped.

There is a whole life you will live after SA. It may be different than the life you once saw stretch out before you, but it’s no less valuable. You will heal and grow and change. You will know more happiness than you could ever imagine from that dark, angry, fearful place you once inhabited.

Your life has beauty and value and it is bigger than what SA took from you.

shirley jackson you tell em www.newyorker.com/books/page-t...
ar and away the greatest menace to the writer—any writer, beginning or otherwise
—is the reader. The reader is, after all, a kind of silent partner in this whole business of writing, and a work of fiction is surely incomplete if it is never read. The reader is, in fact, the writer's only unrelenting, genuine enemy. He has everything on his side; all he has to do, after all, is shut his eyes, and any work of fiction becomes meaningless. Moreover, a reader has an advantage over a beginning writer in not being a beginning reader; before he takes up a story to read it, he can be presumed to have read everything from Shakespeare to Jack Kerouac. No matter whether he reads a story in manuscript as a great personal favor, or opens a magazine, or—kindest of all—goes into a bookstore and pays good money for a book, he is still an enemy to be defeated with any kind of dirty fighting that comes to the writer's mind.

I also believe in restorative justice but I don't think that means you get to become a pillar of a community and garner an audience and an income that relies solely on everyone including yourself staying silent about your actions. In the VIDEO GAME SPHERE no less.

Three panel comic. Panel 1: a small group of friends is hanging out indoors. Two guys are on the couch, holding video game controllers. A third guy steps into the room and says, “can someone move their car?” Panel 2: he continues, “there’s an impossible device blocking me.” In the driveway, a beige car is parked in front of a glossy, unfathomable biomechanic vehicle. Panel 3: back in the video game room, a spindly, three-eyed alien creature steps from across the room with a car key in hand. The alien says, “that’s me, bro— I’ll move.” One of the guys on the couch throws up his hands because the alien is blocking the TV.

jeremy kaplowitz @jeremykaplowitz.com · 15/09/2026
🚨 Jeremy Kaplowitz has officially dropped out of the Ed Sheeren tour.
I have made the difficult decision to withdraw myself from the worldwide Ed Sheeran "The Loop" tour due to his inability to denounce the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

Currently, I am secretly hidden in the wheels of his tour bus and was planning to infiltrate his arena show by claiming to be an opening act and performing 20-40 minutes of solo spoken word poetry, or as long as I could before being tackled to the ground by security. But I cannot stand by Ed anymore.

I do not take this decision lightly. I know many (future) Jeremy Kaplowitz fans are going to be disappointed to not get to learn about my really awesome work, but I simply cannot abide by people who claim to "not wanna get political" when it's about murdering tens of thousands of people. Also I think he ruined that one Game of Thrones episode, which is even worse in retrospect, when you consider how few good ones we ultimately had left at that point.

To Ed, thank you for everything you have done so far to support me. You don't know who I am, but I was the one who kept stealing half of your sandwiches on the tour bus when you weren't looking and your manager kept saying you were "acting crazy." I hope you understand where I am coming from (think killing children is bad), even though you say it's icky to have to think about.

Free Palestine.
