I said it two days ago, but I'll say it again: AI is truly the apex of prioritizing outcome over process. Reading to a child is as much about physical touch, emotional connection, social cuing, visual development and reciprocal engagement as the story itself, but they're too up their ass to see it.

A reanimated horse, given sentience but not proof against rot, has withered to nothing but a skull. Will her old mistress ever come back for her? And if she does, will they be recognizable to each other? Listen to (or read) my latest fantasy story here. podcastle.org/2026/09/29/p...

I am something of a literary chameleon and it's hard to nail down my style, so it's extra hilarious to watch these AI-generated scam emails scramble at straws and try to mirror back something convincing to me
A screenshot of an excerpt of a particularly shitty, long-winded, AI-generated email that clumsily regurgitates my own publicly available biographical details back at me alongside some highly vague words about some of my stories or collections taken from the publicly available book summaries on Amazon. (The excerpt is SO long-winded that Bluesky didn't give me enough alt text characters here to reproduce it.)

I was starting to feel left out of the whole "I'm an author and I keep getting sophisticated scam emails that impersonate legitimate publishers/editors/authors/podcasters," but then I received my first one this week. I now consider myself Arrived
Screenshot of an email claiming to be from "CJ Aggett" at The Writing Community Chat Show podcast. However, the return email address does not match the official contact email address on the podcast's website, and the email itself offers vague, unfocused praise for my lone erotica collection as a pretense for inviting me on the show. Email text is as follows:

Hi KJ,

We’d love to invite you to be part of something very special at The Writing Community Chat Show.

We came across Heart of Brass and Other Fantasies and were immediately intrigued by the imaginative worlds and wonderfully unconventional ideas woven throughout the collection. The range of fantastical situations and characters makes it clear that you’re not afraid to explore unusual territory and take readers somewhere unexpected.

We feel our writing community would genuinely love to discover more about the person behind these stories your creative journey, the ideas that inspire you, and what draws you toward such imaginative and unconventional storytelling.

This isn’t simply about promoting a book. It’s about giving other writers a glimpse behind the stories and an opportunity to learn from the person who created them.

We’d be absolutely delighted to feature you and share your journey with our community of passionate writers and readers.

We’ll keep everything simple, relaxed and respectful of your time.

If you’re open to it, I’d love to send you a few more details.

Warmest wishes,
CJ Aggett

I just dropped a book into the cosmos using Draft2Digital. I wanted to see what their publishing process was like. In a not serious effort, I found a document to sacrifice, made a basic cover, and submitted it for publication. The cover is shit, but the stories aren't.

A digital illustration taken from the final scenes of The Truman Show (1998). A huge wall painted to look like cloudy skies over the sea. and extending out from it is a set of stairs, also painted to look like the sky. The bottom of the wall and stairs are met with calmly rippling green seawater. At the top of the stairs is a dark, open doorway into the wall and a reversed out silhouette of a figure standing in said doorway. To the left of the stairs is a blue gray rectangle containing knocked out lettering with several of the letters inverted or reversed that reads 'Maybe it will happen today'

A row of 4 stacks of books with 2 books per stack. Each book is enfolded within a page of paperwork, and each page-and-book is wrapped with string. All books, pages, and strings are oriented in the same direction, which makes for beautifully tidy piles.
