One of things that is most leaping out at me is how many consumer protections and more consumer friendly things. Like 14 day cooling off periods for so many services. It took me a few tries to find the right mobile phone service. I got refunds and easy to cancel services. Mind boggling.

Might have a proper rental lined up. Cross fingers all, toured a nice, sealed place today that ticks all the boxes and is available. One day I won't be spending all day filling out rental applications, talking on the phone, finding out the place is already rented, etc etc. Exhausted lol.

My first rainy dreary Scottish day. Yes, I know there’ll be many. Keep in mind my base expectation is the Caribbean, so NW Ohio vs Scotland is a matter of degree, not surprise. Ohio or Scotland, I have to take Vitamin D and use a sunlamp or I struggle.

Found Smokey curled up taking a nap inside a paper grocery bag. After a first full day in temporary housing I got my first full night’s sleep. It no longer feels like the world is ending on a personal level. Working the phone hard for the permanent solution.

After walking a mile to the agency to get a van, then carrying 8 50lb suitcases down stairs, then up stairs, and getting everything moved, I went into a mild tachycardia as my heart defect threw its hands up and said 'that's enough bro' so I took my meds and passed out for 4 hours. Much better now.

Got to the flat we rented in Scotland but previous tenant skipped out on months of power bills so power is cut by EDF Energy and they have no support until Monday morning so spending even more of our resources on a few days hotel until sorted. With extra pet fees. One day the dice will roll my way

Here's another surprising delight, I picked up a pair of wired Apple AirPods for $20, and I haven't put them in the wash! The wireless ones were just... I'm too ADHD. I kept running them through the wash. The wired are messy, but I always know where they are. Great for Zooms.

What's cool these days, though? My xteink 4 pro is running Inx nicely, and I got it to talk to Calibre, where all my de-drmed books live, so I have 20 books loaded up on it and when I'm in line, or have a little downtime, or right before bed, I've been reading on it. That has been a joyful.

I can honestly say I've never been this exhausted in my life before. But we are close to getting everything donated/sold/packed/tossed to leave an empty house. 75% there? Leaving for Scotland on the 17th. We're trying to be patient with each other as a family, but we're all also so exhausted.

We applied for family visas 18 months ago, the home office made so many clerical errors on it it got rejected. Our lawyer told us we could win an appeal, and it'd take forever and we'd pay a ton in legal fees, so we applied again. Then the home office mistyped the emails to send us acceptances.
