I asked him if he ever got any bulk orders, or had thoughts on how to scale up or manufacture them more efficiently. He looked at me like I was crazy. He *likes* doing them one at a time, it's his passion, and since he lives in a civilized country, he doesn't *need* to worry about scaling up.

I broadly agree with much of this thread but I will say - part of the challenge opponents of this motion had is that the proposers of the motion were completely intolerant, incapable of negotiation in a way that is very alien to Green culture.

There is also a marked increase in dense, AI-written papers. AI tools are making it easy for authors to flood arXiv [and others with] low-value papers.

I've said this in some of our book talks, but as an advocate I think spending a lot of time trying to find common ground with "someone on the other side" is generally a waste of time. It's much more effective to identify latent supporters of the things you want in the world and get them to join you.

Others will have their say about this, but I think it’s worth pointing out that this - or laundered versions of it - are accepted wisdom amongst a big chunk of our political and media classes and it is simply bad for society when the elites have little or no understanding of *the systems they run*

Hanania has gone out of his way to try and persuade the mainstream media types and readers he wants to woo that he is no longer a racist. I don’t buy that, but he is at least putting on *the act.* So it’s extremely telling that this is how he continues to talk about women, rape, and even Epstein.
This manifests in Hanania's contempt for victims of rape and trafficking and his repeated support for age-gap relationships, even those that would constitute statutory rape in many jurisdictions. When The Bulwark broke news on Monday that Gen-Z looksmaxxing influencer Clavicular had been accused of rape, Hanania sprung into action discrediting the allegations. On X, he posted
Women who claim to be sexually assaulted or raped and then continue associating with their alleged attackers deserve zero sympathy.
They re either
1) liars; or
2) making it impossible to differentiate between real and fake allegations, hurting other men and women and society as a whole
A sane legal system would take this into account and not trust such women in criminal or civil lawsuits. They should also be socially stigmatized as bad people. It's no mistake that this is all entangled with Hanania's horrific defenses of Jeffrey Epstein and the abuses on his private island. Hanania has posted that "Hating Epstein represents the essence of antisemitism. The resentment of mediocrities, conspiracy thinking, and chud moralism."
He went so far as to baldly assert that some of the women not only had it coming but even benefited in the end from Epstein's systemic rape operation:
One of the Epstein "trafficking victims" is a prostitute who he met when she was in her twenties, who had sex with him and reported that he gave her an orgasm.
There's more evidence of Epstein being a stud than there is he's what conspiracy theorists
claim.

You are a sixty-six-year-old retired white Republican! You are responsible for the decline in the national discourse! And of course you think the state was kind, it was set up entirely for people like you!
Pam, 66, Republican, white, retired
I think we are following the nation. We used to all have different opinions on politics, and we could still all get along. There were compromises, but we could be with family. One might believe in one thing and one might believe another, but we could all still be together. And as it is in the country, I think Texas is getting further and further apart. It’s gotten very nasty. We’ve always been a very kind state, I’ve always thought. And I don’t feel like we’re very kind anymore.

Every median voter's opinion boils down to "can't we all get along?" No, you stupid fucker. One party wants to destroy the nation, and if we lay back and let that happen you'd hear endless complaining from this same moron. There's a bonus, here, too: brainless national deficit sentiment
Sebastian, 50, independent, white, utility manager
I think it starts with our national deficit and just government spending overall — get that under control. Because I think everything flows from that. I mean, we’re writing checks that somebody’s got to cash eventually, and we’re just spending money left and right. Our deficit is in the trillions now. That’s not sustainable for the future. And the fact that they’re not working together, just constantly — they can’t agree on the color of the sky.
