Part of the subtext here is the elite conviction that African-Americans, in particular, are lazy frauds using affirmative action to steal space in prestigious institutions from their children and colleagues, which doesn't necessarily translate to anti-immigration sentiment more broadly.

My initial assumption was that partisan lean was going to swallow candidate variability, which is why I was bearish on Texas and Ohio and Kansas and bullish on Maine, but a lot of the polling has been suggesting the opposite.

I don't blame Biden, as much as a lot of people, because the precedent and shape of US consensus on 🇮🇱/🇵🇸 meant that almost any Democratic president in his position would end up having to make very similar decisions, but that's a good reason to reevaluate the utility of that consensus going forward.
