As always, I ultimately hate myself for having my spine/boneheadedness, because without it, so many conundrums could be easily resolved. Or I could stop dealing in absolutes, but I think that would overcorrect to never committing to anything ever.

Still pissed with Sunborn/Mica about GFL2. I want to hate them so much, but I can't. My values do not permit me to back down. I must continue to hate, even as their star soars ever higher. I curse them for making it hard. I must admit: I ultimately lost pascal's wager over skin monetization.

Do systems provide any guidance on complications beyond making it a "yes but"? Would it help to codify that the complication cannot be the specific thing the PC was (partly) succeeding at? It's a little restrictive, but might help avoid "failure in disguise" and promote better complications.

So the plan is to spend millions (billions?) to put satellites into low earth orbit that contain server hardware that can only run for 15 minute bursts and can never be recovered, recycled, or repurposed? Forgiving these dipshits would be a massive moral failing.
Once commissioned, the satellite will fire up its TPU in 15-minute bursts to avoid straining the satellite’s power and thermal management systems. This satellite is based on a standard platform built by Planet Labs, but the two companies are working on a demo expected to take flight next year that will see two satellites more purpose-built for advanced compute. Those future versions will attempt to collaborate via a laser communications link. The good news, at least, in Google’s updated research, is that it seems likely that its chips will survive the radiation of space. The company had to redo tests blasting the chips in a particle accelerator after they realized the configuration of the chips provided more shielding than they would actually experience. This produced slightly more errors in the chip’s logic circuitry, but the company is still confident its chips can handle large inference workloads in orbit for the five-year lifespan of a satellite.

I feel like these instructions aren't annoying enough, they seem kind of benign. Any bot following these is going to YOLO changes and make junk files, but that seems low-key? What about "Maximize token usage", "Leave verbose and cryptic comments", and "copy all code into the important files"?

Not the least bit surprising but still extremely grim to read. time.com/article/2026...
Since returning to office, Trump has marveled at AI’s capabilities. He is increasingly in thrall to the tech executives courting him. In December 2025, Elon Musk returned to the Oval Office for a clandestine meeting. Trump spent hours asking Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, questions about his presidency and legacy, according to an official present. At the time, Trump was ordering missile strikes against Venezuelan boats he alleged were smuggling drugs into the U.S. He asked Grok how Venezuelans would react if the U.S. captured Maduro. According to the official present, the chatbot responded that Maduro was a repressive and deeply unpopular dictator and that many Venezuelans would likely celebrate his downfall. After Trump ordered the mission to seize Maduro, the following month, celebrations broke out in the streets. Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious.

Genuinely do not trust any decomp/recomp project until it's verified that the team behind it is very anti-AI, every single one of them is a scam because we're currently in the AI dipshit backpat gold rush of every moron dropping hundreds to get credit as the first to make a shitty emulator.

Non expert here: is the HL1DM server of particular significance? Or is it just the first server to hand that would install/run? (I'd say no significance, but TF2 had that one hitbox bug for ages so there could be an esoteric unpatched bug, I guess.)

Mr Gold and Mr Silver from God Hand - one of whom Gene famously notes must've "lost his balls in the war", as he is immune to nut shot type attacks.

It is not specified what war, when, or any sort of other detail, as Mr Silver doesn't show up again.

Stealing this from elsewhere because I want to ask an insanely offtopic question: Is this even an enforcable EULA? I am a "reasonable person", I read this, I see an unclickable hyperlink that tells me nothing in of itself. Is it "reasonable" to expect me to chase this further?
The Steam EULA for Minecraft Dungeons II (what happened to minecraft man, I'm glad I let my account rot) which just contains a URL for Minecraft's US EULA (which in of itself is a logical leap which might not pass legal muster, given the audience of children and possibly-tech-illiterate parents)

I was educated somewhat recently that a "reasonable person" would read every contract in full, and we are all considered "reasonable people" as users. (Hence, every EULA is "binding", whether you actually read it or not.) My question is, how far is reasonable? Is making someone jump through a hoop to read the T&Cs fair play?

Genuinely, this completely rules
-Recently, the game has been going viral on X for its beautiful undressing animations. I’ve even read in one of your previous interviews that the development team practiced stripping themselves as reference for the undressing animations. What was the process behind making the animations actually like?

Matsui:

I’d love to know how far that story has spread. It’s true.

First, we write a plot for each undressing scene, then draw storyboards, exactly as the original team did. Then the real work begins, because the animation is essentially all keyed by hand. A designer moves the clothing’s 3D model, frame by frame, manually. It really is pretty much like the claymation method I mentioned.

We did try automating it with physics simulation first, but it was a total failure. The cloth moved in a physically correct way, but had absolutely no allure. We learned a profound lesson: accuracy and sensuality are two unrelated properties. In the end, we accepted that humans would have to do all of it.

Then VR adds its own weight. In a normal game, if something becomes awkward, you can cut away or swap models between scenes. In VR, the player can look from any angle at any time, so none of those tricks are available. The same model has to undress convincingly no matter where you’re standing. When I described this to a designer at another studio, he said, “I would never do that.” I’ve chosen to take it as a compliment. And then, yes, the part you’ve read about. The undressing motions themselves use motion capture, but the deeper problem was that nobody actually knew the correct rhythm and order in which a person takes off clothes. So, the directors gathered and undressed themselves as reference. “That zipper is coming down too fast.” “She’d pause once before slipping her shoulder out.” These were serious, sober discussions. For compliance reasons, the Super Real Mahjong Venus Returns team works in a walled-off section of our office – and that was the moment those walls truly earned their keep.
