Hot take: Indiana Jones dealing with aliens in 4 was a good idea, since that's what the popular pulp of the 50s was focused on. They should have continued that trend so that the next one, set in the 70s, would be a drug-fuelled supernatural conspiracy thriller like 'The Illuminatus! Trilogy.'
