I know I get obsessed by weird things. I'm not a perfectionist, I swear. I don't aim for perfect, just better. I thought it had too much contrast (left) and I used a wash of white acrylic paint to soften it (right). I think it's better. The idea is to make it look like sediment, not paint.

Hex convolution again. This time in clear resin and jesmonite with paint for contrast. I removed the 3D-print artifacts from the resin cast by making a wax cast, heating to smooth, and making a new silicone mold. To get a glossy effect I can coat the mold with more silicone. I may try that next.

Hex convolution, coaster size and smaller. There is nothing special about this pattern except that it is symmetrical and the packs into the space. I wonder if it would be more interesting to have a single loop. The 3d print texture aligns with loops, and might not telegraph itself in a cast.
