Sneaky peek of a chapter of Seeing Cells (A comic history of #microscopy) 1/3 🧪🐡🧫🔬
Page 1 of a comic chapter called 'Fertilization to organisms'. There are 6 cream round panels on a dark background, showing the sequential steps of a germ cell dividing. Cells are shaded with stippling like the Whitman figures from the early-mid 1900s and different populations of cell types are highlighted in yellow. The text reads: Cell theory became popular among 19th century scientists/ Cytologists observed that cells were specialized in structure and function/ Researchers sought to unify these observations. They asked:/ How do different types of cells arise from one cell type? How does one cell become many integrated cells in a single organism?/ To answer these fundamental questions, scientists went to their microscopes.
