Surprise!
Chart from The Economist showing % change in real GDP in the first half of 2026 compared with the previous six months for all G7 countries. Britain soars ahead, far outpacing Canada and the US by almost as much as 0.2 percentage pointsPaul Rudd saying "Hey, look at us, huh?"

Did more dreadful bougie parents start flinging their entitled offspring onto STEM courses after the Facebook IPO? Maybe? Am I grasping for a societal phenomenon to explain three or four grad hires who annoyed the shit out of me in 2015? Absolutely!

The government also doesn’t know why I’m riding a train or using the internet. The issue with data centres isn’t the transparency of their use. But the resources they consume space they take and their impact on the places we put them. Attack the tangibles.

The image is of a four panel comic.
The title reads, "Suddenly Finding A New Obsession".
In the first panel we see Sarah, the protagonist, in front of her computer. She has a bored expression on her face.
In the second panel we zoom in on her face. She looks suddenly alert.
In the third panel we zoom in even closer on her face. Her eyes and mouth are wide open in intrigue.
In the fourth panel we zoom out and see Sarah in front of her computer again, but this time she is dressed in a frog costume, surrounded by frog toys, and has an "I heart frogs" poster behind her.

There is no greater driver of economic growth than good public transport links. Look at the boom of the Elizabeth Line. People who whinge about the costs of it are just short-sighted morons. Ignore them and build everything. HS2. HS3. Crossrail 2. Trams in every city. Just do it.

Terrible joke meme made of 3 stacked images from a moving scene in the film Finding Neverland.
1. Close up of a young boy (Freddy Highmore) sitting on a park bench with his father looks up at him and says "Dad, can you tell me what a solar eclipse is?"
Image 2: Close-up of the dad (Johnny Depp) looking down at his son saying "No Sun"
Image 3: the father embraces the boy as they sit on a bench. The boy is crying at the dad joke.
