Some people hear a lot of nationalisation promises in Burnham's speech, but he has this stage of "public control" between private and public ownership, which I think he's going to be leaning on a lot. He also said more than once, that companies who work with him will be supported. #BBCPM

Further fun fact: If your parents are poor you’ll rent for longer and get a mortgage later and pay it off later. What does that mean? You’ll have less income (if any!) to set aside for saving a private pension in your 20s, 30s and 40s. What’s the main benefit of DC pensions? Compound interest!

Funny thing I recall the debate back when it was linked to inflation not earnings which was seen as unfair and at the time I thought "link to inflation seems a fair basis for a state benefit" and now that earnings rarely keep track with inflation of course the distinction has switched the other way.

Well, well, well - if it isn’t the consequences of our own actions. It would appear that migrants are not, in fact, the fiscal drain we’ve been told they are by years if we go by the £4bn to £6.5bn shortfall that’s been caused by the precipitous drop in numbers under this government. Funny that.
