My students are always learning my six sacred techniques then trying to use them against me in battle. Obviously I'm going to use the secret seventh technique to defeat them. Every day with this.

part of my whole deal, What It Is To Be Me, is i don't really know what i want. That's how i end up drifting into drakengard 1 and pathologic and so on. I've played more horror games (not that those two are horror games but iykyk) this past year than in the previous 20.

Pained Revelations grassyvalley.thecomicseries.com/comics/78/#c...
FORUMULA COMMENT: like do you think the coiffed guy in the photos is really getting his hands dirty picking a cabbage? too bad because i do agree with most of what he says about being gentlemanly and irresponsible goverment spending.

GRASSY'S RESPONSE WITH PHOTO: It pains me to say, but I have found proof. Everyone is right. The Gentleman appears to be a lusciously handsome photo model, probably not even handling the vegetables properly.

WANDA MAGNIFICENT: wow, this is the smoking gun, well done.

LOVELY CHANTEUSE: not true he is my boyfriend.

JUMBO GUMBO 5: it's over. Gentleman officially unmasked. good detective workl

NIGHT TIME FLOWER 1: Sure, you discovered The Gentleman is handsome enough to be a model. That's not news to anybody. He probably models on the side when there's been an anemic harvest.

ADDITIONAL CREATURE: a man of soil can never be handsome enchanting? a communer with dirt can't ring the bells of his charms?

(Grassy hunches in and glares at his screen in his dark house. The fireplace flickers behind him.)

We've had the ability to watch, say, Counterstrike marathons, Street Fighter tournaments, or chess matches between computers since the 90s. Spectacles which, by their very definition, would be at a "higher standard" than human play. And nobody wants it. It's entirely meaningless. It has no appeal.

convincing players you don't kill any great ones in bloodborne is a fool's errand cuz despite everything the game says about it, you're fighting its reward loop ("the bestial nature of humanity"), and the reward loop from an interactive medium is more powerful than words

The government moving or hiding jailed people to avoid review by courts isn't some loophole in our habeas corpus rights. This government behavior has been considered a violation of the people's habeas corpus rights since at least the Habeas Corpus Act of 1679. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_...
Jailors were forbidden to move prisoners from one prison to another or out of the country to evade the writ. In case of disobedience jailers would be punished with severe fines which had to be paid to the prisoner.[5][6]

In Paper Mario, the Power Bounce badge's maximum number of bounces is arbitrarily capped against bosses, making Mario end the attack even with perfect inputs. Below are ways to determine if the player should feel bad about the missed input or if it was the game's fault.
In Paper Mario, the Power Bounce badge's maximum number of hits is arbitrarily capped when fighting various enemies, particularly bosses.
This means that even if you perform the input perfectly, Mario will'simply stop the attack all by himself at some point, making it look like it was your fault.
Here is how to tell if your attack was capped by the game or if you missed an input:
If you missed an input, the A button will remain on screen for a fraction of a second after the hit. In addition, Mario will jump off the enemy in a steep arc, landing close to the enemy.
If you were capped, the A button will disappear on the frame Mario deals the final hit, and he will jump off in a larger arc, landing further away. If you see these signs, rest easy: it was not your fault.

this was a lot of the shit with the "look bringing on the cheneys and doing all this right wing outreach doesn't mean anything for their actual policies". sure it does. not because of any quid pro quo - but because you've decided this block is *necessary* for you to win. so you can't piss them off.

Interviewer: You had an interesting quote once where you said that you can look back on your and Lana’s work “through the lens of our transness,” and I’m curious how that applies to “The Matrix” in particular.

Lilly Wachowski: When I look back, I can see the things that attracted me and Lana to that particular story. We were invested in liberation. So, without an understanding of what we were trying to liberate for ourselves, we were finding sympathetic and empathetic connections to other modes of liberation — specifically Black and brown liberation. There’s a reason why Zion is mostly Black and brown folks. We were inherently predisposed to seeing our own liberation connected to these other modes of liberation. When you talk about the suppressive system and how it is this system of control and how it governs society, for ourselves, being deeply closeted, we could feel there was an oppressive dynamic.

We didn’t know what “transgender” meant. We weren’t exposed to the idea of how there’s this gray space in nature and this gray space in gender, so it took us a while to go to our bookstores, read about gender and read about the spectrum of gender and sexuality, and slowly we were able to put those pieces together. But in the meantime, we happened to live in Chicago, which is not only one of the roots of Black Power in this country, but also has a horrible history of segregation. You literally drive across the tracks and there’s the white side of the neighborhood and the Black side of the neighborhood — North Side and South Side — and learn about the horrible history of redlining in this city. We’re finding these connective points and it’s all coming out in this story of Neo meeting this rebel hero of his, Morpheus, a cool Black guy with shades of Fred Hampton and the Black Panther Party. So, that’s how it starts.
