Putting aside the stealing of work of actual mathematicians, the economics of this are infeasible. To win a $1M prize, they spent what amounts of $10M of tokens, by their public pricing, which we know is subsidized and so they probably burned even more money than that.

I thought I lived in a meritocracy until I went to work for a bank, where almost everyone else joined via an internship arranged by their dad. All genuinely had no idea of their own privilege. And they all earned more than me, because they knew how to negotiate a starting salary.

There’s a French novel (and movie!) called “Connemara” and it nowt to do with Connemara in Ireland. It’s a reference to the French song Les Lacs Du Connemara which is a big deal in France. I’m trying to think of an equivalent foreign place-name in Irish music. Probably Stuttgart.

FWIW, Meta was fully aware of how these glasses would primarily be used. The glasses were designed to erase consent, and that is why they exist. Anything that they do that suggests they want to ameliorate this use is an attempt to win the PR battle and manipulate public opinion.
