A thing I learned about Meta when I was trying to understand how their statements relate to their actions a few years ago is that *they just tell absolutely indefensible lies* and journalists almost always let them. They believed no one would ever punish them for it in any way that matters.

People REALLY don’t like being told they’re wrong. What the far right have done is weaponise this and tell people that the feelings of bigotry that they’re secretly ashamed of are actually good. And if deployed cunningly this works on far more people than you'd think, which is exhausting.

The first rule of gang bang club is that you have to talk about gang bang club: these things don’t organise themselves. NEW blog, #GangBang club Adorable nerdy/horny/crafting art by @stuartcb.bsky.social www.girlonthenet.com/blog/gang-ba...
A homemade chart with two spinnable paper wheels, one of women's faces and one of men's faces. There are pens around the chart on the table, and the chart is labelled 'gang bang club'. In the right-hand corner there's a little key with stickers that have letters next to them (red heart = APD, green crescent = NK, pink star = BC). The faces on the chart all look smiley

I will be thinking about Angrypennies forever
Tumblr post from user kat: i had a dream last night that the entire world used a currency (?) called angrypennies which as the name implies are obtained by experiencing anger. the stronger and more intense your anger was, the more angrypennies you'd gain. an all-consuming rage would earn you more than a slight irritation, etc. so people were always searching for ways to fuel their anger and purposefully keeping themselves angry all the time because they wanted to earn angrypennies. unclear if angrypennies could be exchanged for goods and services, or if they were just a collectible. anyway, as if this wasn't heavy-handed enough, at one point british comedian greg davies appeared and explained that angrypennies couldn't be worth feeling angry all the time. this was a real revelation to dream-me and i was finally able to break free of the angrypenny grind and allow myself to experience emotions other than anger.it goes without saying that i will be using the word angrypenny as if it was part of the common vernacular instead of a term that my dreaming brain conjured up i.e. "he's all about the angrypennies" (derogatory way to refer to a guy who searches for reasons to be angry and possibly lacks introspection)

I have this annoying thing when typing (on a computer keyboard) that sometimes my fingers will just type a different related word. My brain thinks the right word, my mind visually imagines the right letters and my fingers just muscle-memory some other shit.

i see it working more like '-gate'. I don't really see people using the word in full for nesting but certainly -ception as a suffix to whatever thing is recursion (eg your classic matroshka would be 'dollception' but not 'doll inception')

I regularly think about how the word "inception" has taken on a new meaning after the film Inception, in which inception is at all not used to describe what inception has come to mean from Inception

I dislike the gendering of cat ownership not only because it means fewer cats get adopted, but also because it makes it harder to find cat-themed menswear. Below are some I've come across over the years. Brands and descriptions are in the alt text. Also a mug at the end that I like.

Humaning.
A four-panel comic. In panel 1, a Northern Cardinal and American Goldfinch perch above a busy crowd in a city, looking down. The cardinal says "It's a nice day to go humaning." The goldfinch says "Just look at them. Majestic." In panel 2, a close-up of the two birds. The cardinal says "Nobody tells you that you'll reach a certain age and suddenly get into humaning. I hit 3 years old, and then bam."The birds are looking out over the crowd scene. In panel 3, the cardinal says "Their calls sound funny to us, but each one has a unique meaning." Below, people are saying various things: "I'm tired." "Where's my phone?" "I'd murder a burrito." In panel 4, the birds look down excitedly at a man walking by. The cardinal says "Wait, is that a guy who got dressed in the dark and put his shirt on inside out and backwards?" And the goldfinch exclaims, "Holy... that's a lifer!"

What on earth is happening?
This had become the new normal. RNLI crew members had been forced to take their permits off their cars after their tyres have been repeatedly slashed. Most of them have been pilloried at the school gates or turned away from local pubs. One man who worked in search and rescue had been beaten unconscious and hospitalised, recognised for TV interviews he had done.

Okay so @defector.com has had an odd glitch since the site redesign a couple of weeks back where the wrong photo and headline are often put together on the main page and I was going to ask them about fixing it but this just happened and as far as I'm concerned they have to leave it as is.
Screenshot for a Defector podcast episode with the headline "Consider the Emotional Lives of Scallops" only the accompanying photo is a white gormless stubbled red-headed UK singer of recent notoriety giving a flat smile to the camera while wearing a washed out peach top as beige as he is against a flat background. So, actually, probably a scallop anyway.
