Just spoke out loud to the Alexa I said I'd never have in my house and asked it to "play some fun music," a sentence that would've made the me of no more than two years ago throw myself off a pier. Which is just as well as it replied: "Playing 'Sophie's Funeral Playlist' from Spotify."

Brilliant, fascinating article about the relationship between a drug addict and the drug dealers who cuckooed his home: www.theguardian.com/news/ng-inte...

A tale of two trap houses: being cuckooed ruined my friend’s life – but did it then help save him?
The long read: Drug gangs have moved off Britain’s streets and into vulnerable people’s homes. Addicts like my friend are easy targets, but the reality can be more complicated than it seems

Currently trying to book flights to mainland Europe and going through endless price comparisons made impossible by the varying luggage surprises at every stage. I swear if anyone wants to trace the decline of the West it's when they started charging for your suitcase.

I'm investigating how school refusal became so widespread. Aside from much bigger mental health reasons I also wonder if adult life retained more mystery to previous generations of kids. Were we easier to convince that algebra, oxbow lakes, French subjunctive could be crucial part of adulthood?

Looking at Hackney property prices on Rightmove this morning, I think we can safely say there’s a sale on. (Partly because of landlords selling off their rentals after the Renters’ Rights’ Bill.)

Looking at a big UK Facebook thread on prepping for the worst, stockpiling, what ppl think of the possibility of war. Almost everyone has something to say about 'if we get nuked.' Given many wars are currently raging in world, none of them nuclear, why do most people only ever imagine this outcome?

I see there's more debate on here about where The North and where it starts. Of course Cheshire's the North. But having been born & raised in Yorkshire (undeniably north! Capital of the Danelaw!) & attended only local state schools my peers still viewed me with suspicion cos I had southern parents.
