I'm embracing becoming a BBC Radio 3 guy. The other week they did a thing where they were talking about lighthouses all day. A whole day man. Right now they're playing a 60s Steve Reich composition that is more challenging and interesting than anything on Stuart Maconie's so-called 'Freakzone.'

Nirvana merch is out of control. It was weird enough selling tees in Asda. I've just seen a Serve the Servants hoodie in H&M. They've got a whole In Utero range in there. What's going on man

At the Great Scottish Run junior race today, the announcer is giving shout outs to everyone at the finish line, big ups to all the kids, then "oooh here's someone in a Manchester City tracksuit, dunno how we feel about that." Harsh on the child, I feel.

Nicky Weaver. Paul Dickov. Darren Huckerby. Shaun Wright-Phillips. Don't tell me there aren't still some City fans out there who look back on the honest days in the second and third tier and, even privately, admit that they always preferred it. Wonder what they think of all this now.

I almost feel a little ashamed of the cynicism with which I'm meeting the Burnham buzz. It's not a noble quality. He does, in a limited sense, point in a better direction. I just can't bring myself to believe a word of it for very obvious reasons, and find it baffling that others are so quick to.

It’s absolutely mad how low the bar has fallen for centrists. All it took was a few vague platitudes and promises of change at some nebulous point in the future to convince them that they were back—AGAIN.

People say you shouldn't ever become, endorse, or embody the thing you are attempting to satirise or critique, but Mad Men does this entirely, very deliberately and intentionally, and it's one of the reasons why it's one of the greatest TV shows ever made.
