Minister says Gov't decision grounded in the AMAD Cttee Report and private meetings throughout summer. That explains why it is such a bad decision (not grounded in evidence or logic and unspeakably cruel). 1/3

Interesting as a point of reference for public opinion in Canada. Support for secession is running around 31% in Quebec. Latest poll in Alberta puts support for a referendum at 23%.

The Alberta separation referendum is a VERY dangerous kind of vote, & that’s exactly what Russian and American operatives are counting on…separatists will have a 100% turnout, while media reports that separation is unpopular make it seem like general turnout isn’t necessary. Turnout wins elections.

I know the BC Conservatives will be much worse because I’ve watched and listened carefully to who they are, and because I’m VERY familiar with what’s been happening in Alberta and Ontario (the BC Conservatives are at least as bad). Voting for “Change” can be worse. Flesh eating disease is “change.”

A British Columbia election is coming. I’m able to separate my anger at BC Premier David Eby for calling an early election, and in general for the bad decisions that have greatly frustrated me, from my absolute certainty that the far right extremist BC Conservative Party would be much, MUCH worse.

a little louder for the cheap seats in the back
One of the biggest myths is that men rape by mistake. Like, "Oh, they need consent training." But research is very clear: Sexual violence is not a mistake. It is an intentionally made decision by people who know they don't have consent. They just don't prioritize consent over things like status, power, domination, and sexual gratification.
For my research, I got a certificate of confidentiality from the National Institutes of Health, so my notes couldn't be subpoenaed. One of the reasons I call them perpetrators in my work is because every single person I interviewed confessed in that context. The first question I would ask them was, "When you received that email from Title IX that you were under investigation, did you know what it was about?" Every perpetrator I interviewed said "yes." If sexual assault were a miscommunication, you would be wondering, What have I possibly done wrong? That is not the way that any of them reacted because they knew.

I remember my father telling me how anti trust laws worked as a kid. Something like "Well son, we have laws where one electric company can't just buy all the OTHER electric companies. Then they could just charge whatever they want because there'd be no competition." We were a very optimistic people.

This is incredibly important. I feel deeply that curbing sexual violence will come from raising social expectations of men, not from ‘educating’ them. I fear this is an unpopular view, because people are afraid to face up to the scale of the issue.

I went the NHS emergency room in London over the weekend, it was free. Free to anyone. I'd have been charged only if I was admitted to the hospital. A cart in the waiting room went by me with some nice sandwiches, and I chose one. Before I could try to pay, the cart moved on. Sandwich also free.

In recent years, the pro-independence leader has also expressed his “fed-upness with ‘wokism,’” an “ideological movement” he accuses of trying to impose its concepts on public debate. In April, his opponents criticized him for giving a lengthy YouTube interview to Rebel News, an organization described by the Quebec Press Council as “activist and close to far-right circles.” In response, Paul St-Pierre Plamondon argued that he intended to address all citizens, without exception.
