Every time a major figure has died on one side of my extended family, the remaining elders have picked one person and thrown them out. Family estrangement is often the product of family trauma and we sure don’t have MORE of that now than we did when women had no rights and beating kids was normal.

In the wake of this week’s nonsense I’ve seen a few disabled advocates say that anger is not a good way to convert people and not an ideal advocacy tactic. Perhaps this is true. But not everything a disabled person says needs to be advocacy, and the expression of emotion is an end in itself.
