Local police and sheriffs, deputized by the federal government, are detaining immigrants during traffic stops. ICE is now detaining more immigrants than ever before.

I really love this chart. I'm guess that the correlation here (.85) is about as big as you would find for any other variable. Also, a less serious scholar than @tesler.bsky.social (namely me) would have made a crude Freudian reference to the slope of the line.

Voters will have to conclude there's another reason, and the obvious explanation is the NDP decided to place fast and loose with democratic conventions to extend their time in office by a couple of years—and It's hard to convince voters the other guys are the antidemocratic problem when you do that.

An underlying problem for the NDP in BC, and it's a possibly fatal one, is that the decision to call an election to keep Conservatives out of power is paradoxical, since the NDP could have accomplished the feat by not having an election. That cannot be the reason by definition.
