An illustration done mostly with digital colored pencils. Ok, so we have a wooden coffin in the classic top-heavy hexagon shape. The coffin is propped up at an angle on nothing against a background of gray-blue paint splatters as a spooky sheet ghost rises out of it. Although it’s not a real sheet as it’s translucent and there’s nothing inside of it except a gape-mouthed green skull in the approximate head position within the sheet. The ghost is wearing a big. floppy, black witch’s hat and there’s a little brown bat hanging down from the wide brim. The ghost’s arms are extended holding a jack o’ lantern with a one-toothed frowny face carved into it. Popping out of the jack o’ lantern is a a black cat with green eyes balancing the cap of the pumpkin on his head. And on the stem of the pumpkin cap is a very serious-looking brown speckled owl. A series of spooky speech balloons is chained together around all this , each balloon containing one word and associating back tot he spooks and creatures named in the reverse order listed. The lettering in the balloons is red and drippy and reads ‘Maybe it will happen today’.

Finished while waiting for my curling draw. Still needs to be ironed and framed, but I think the variegated floss was a success. Pattern from Shitpost Sampler, recolored by me with overdyed floss from Cottage Garden Threads and Cosmo.

These were three individual pieces I did in 2021. Unplanned, they became something of an accidental sequence. They then prompted me to make the piece in the quoted post, of the pumpkin dance, by way of a conclusion. Ink on Fabriano Medioevalis, each 95 × 64 mm.

For lunch, @darklament.bsky.social went out & got Pagliacci Pizza’s newest special: the Taco Time pizza. Actually, it was pretty good. A little heavy on the onions, which is kinda the norm for them. I liked the use of Taco Time’s “hot*” sauce as the sauce base. *PNW hot is very mild.

My photo shows a small Roman scent bottle made of cobalt-blue mould-blown glass in the form of a scallop shell. At the top it has a cylindrical neck with an out-turned rim. There is a thin, curved, handle either side of the neck. The top of each handle is attached to the neck, and the bottom is attached to the top of the scallop shell. Bottle dimensions: height 8.5 cm, diameter 5.2 cm. Dated AD 25-100. It is displayed on a circular, clear perspex (?) stand in a British Museum display case. The bottle was bequeathed to the British Museum by Felix Slade in 1869.

My photo shows a silver shell-shaped container with an eight-armed octopus in relief at the centre of the lid. The arms of the octopus curl outwards across the ridges of the shell’s surface. This ornate shell container has a hinged lid and may once have been a cosmetic container . It is displayed on a clear stand in a museum case. Dimensions: 13.3 × 13.2 × 3 cm. It is part of the Silver Treasure from Paternò, Sicily, a hoard discovered in 1909, consisting of tableware and toiletries. Dated 4th-3rd century BC.

the other one of these I love is in TMP when Spock flunks out of Kolinahr (the final boss of Pure Vulcan Logic) for failing to delete his gross human emotions, and then later he melds with a being of pure logic and goes “WOW NO THANK YOU, that looks like it sucks actually??” and chooses emotions!
