"Largest volume" is key here, and that makes it a contest between two or three cable shows with "flawed" male protagonists - you know the ones - with everything else far behind.

Not long ago, two Jehovah's Witnesses came to my front door; they started their pitch and I pulled a Mjolnir pendant out of my T-shirt collar and said, very seriously, "We follow an older tradition in this house." They nodded respectfully and went on their way.

RIP Conrad "Cronos" Lant of Venom. I didn't really like Venom's music, but the impact of their work on the history of underground metal is massive and unarguable. *So much* springs from what these guys did on their first four albums.

Good news, freelancers: Beginning in tax year 2027, the IRS is raising the 1099 threshold from $600 to $2000. So theoretically, if you write *fewer articles per outlet* for *more outlets*, you can render yourself invisible to the tax man. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ohg5...

Oh fuck, it *is* a secret musical, isn't it. www.thewrap.com/creative-con...
Everything in “Digger” is over the top and two-dimensional except the production design, which is over the top but multifaceted and astounding. It reflects the film’s only noteworthy storytelling decision (which I won’t ruin the specifics of) and forces us to accept that the artificiality of “Digger” is Iñárritu’s thesis.

Had an idea this morning: square black stickers that say THERE USED TO BE SOME NAZI SHIT HERE that you could use to cover a Nazi sticker you spot in your local music venue, on a light pole in the supermarket parking lot, etc. What would be the best/most common size for this? 3"x3"? 4"x4"?

As someone who used to work for their label, and likes them as people, it's hilarious to me that Slipknot still try and make big "events" out of shit like announcing a tour. Relax, Clown. Your fans are not a "culture." Just go play the shows.

Email subject line: "Chicago songwriter Ryan Burns bridges indie-rock and folk"... Buddy, I hate to tell you this, but that bridge is not only already built, it's so well-trodden it's in danger of collapse. (Ordinarily, I'd omit the artist's name, but the "Burns bridges" part made me laugh.)

You could hook me a lot quicker and easier by saying "This song has been #1 *in Nigeria* for two months" than by pitching me on US pop (country is pop, shut up). I know the wretchedness of my homeland's culture well enough already, thanks. Give me something new (to me).

Today in self-refuting theses... (I am not in any way condemning the writer of this piece. As a music writer myself, I am keenly aware that sometimes you really need the hundred bucks.)
What Some Folks Really Mean When They Claim to Have Never Heard ‘Choosin’ Texas’
Proclaiming you're unfamiliar with Ella Langley's record-setting song has a lot in common with saying "I listen to anything but country"

By Marissa R. Moss
September 26, 2026

...

There are, as always, logical explanations for such a phenomenon. In our algorithm-driven age, it’s entirely possible to design a curated world where you never encounter “Choosin’ Texas”: You don’t engage with country content, you don’t listen to country playlists, you don’t even remove your earbuds when you enter a coffee shop, should twang be coming out of the speakers. Gone are the days of the monoculture radio hit. Shared experiences are few and far between.
