For all the frustrations and inadequacies with the system, I can hand on heart say the NHS has saved me more than once. Amazing to have had multiple operations and no bills. To have regular medications at no cost (in Scotland). Glad they were able to help you!

I went the NHS emergency room in London over the weekend, it was free. Free to anyone. I'd have been charged only if I was admitted to the hospital. A cart in the waiting room went by me with some nice sandwiches, and I chose one. Before I could try to pay, the cart moved on. Sandwich also free.
