Very sad to hear about the Uni Bookshop in Dunedin being gutted. It has a bit of a special place for me cause I worked there for about 6 months just after I graduated. I had recently been made redundant at my DVD store job (shocker) and was on the dole, desperately searching for a job 1/6

Went to see The Odyssey yesterday! I’m a fan of Nolan’s work so I knew I’d enjoy it, some parts were bit freaky though haha. Really enjoyed some of the themes around human nature, war, regret etc.

This is pretty well known, but the Australian flag Sam Neill wore on his uniform in Event Horizon was designed at his request to show the Union Jack replaced with the Aboriginal flag, because he hoped in the future this is how it would actually look. A proper fucken ally in every way, this bloke.

To put this in perspective, Tiwai uses about 13% of ALL electricity generated in NZ. The Manapouri Power Station was built because of how power hungry it would need to be. So in theory, a data centre would use about a quarter of all power generated in the country. That’s wild.
