I teach statutory interpretation. For part of the course we look at how to translate policy ideas into final legislation - identifying the need to legislate, crafting wording, advice from officials, select committees, SOPs etc etc. The eg we use is conversion practices: a short piece of topical law.

I also have used the conversion practices law as a case in my policy classes ... it's an excellent example of Multiple Streams framework for the development of policy, in addition to an ideal of careful consideration of legislation, select committees, and public consultation.

Reviewer #1: In its original form, this was a strong manuscript. The revisions - including an additional section - expands the engagement with feminist theory and draws out the specific nature of the violence suffered by women MPs in a much more sustained way. The analysis of gendered violence is enriched by inclusion of the case of the transgender MP and the intersectional dimension of OGBV are better foregrounded. I am pleased to recommend that this very well written, structured and presented manuscript is accepted for publication without further amendment.

"No one should be measuring up the Beehive for new curtains just yet. There is still a lot of campaigning to go. We we should all be focused right now on earning the votes and the trust of New Zealanders, not deciding what jobs we're going to have before anybody has even voted," he said.

Although, Hipkins did say what job he and Labour finance spokesperson Barbara Edmonds would have.

"I will be the prime minister. Barbara Edmonds will be the minister of finance. Those are non-negotiables for the Labour Party. No one else should be lining up for jobs yet until we see what the voters choose," he said.
