Opting out of politics doesn't opt you out of the systems. Risk scores, facial recognition and benefit verification get applied to your family whether or not you follow the debate, dickhead.

There is no neutral position on politics as a Pasifika person in tech. The apolitical stance is still a position — and it won't protect you when the algorithm shows up at your door.

Alll of this. I started my career in construction, working office jobs alongside people who worked trades. Know how many 60-year-old guys I saw working as bricklayers? Doing demo? Zero. How many 50-year-old roofers there are? Zero. One reason unions fight for high wages is because careers are SHORT.

So according to Willis, pay equity for women isnt needed because they’ll be better off because of tax cuts. And fuck all pushback on the nonsensical nature of this. I’m so sick of the media going soft on her and her incompetence.

I've gotten grumpy thinking about people in the academy whose heads are too far up their own research to notice what's happening around them that threaten their place. Not to mention oblivious to the people and movements working for nothing to keep them doing their thing. Then remembering Siouxsie.

A lot of this push to get kids into trades because that's where the jobs are don't seem to notice that the building boom that drives the trades will die with the boomer generation and ai bubble. Raise your kids to be revolutionaries. Raise your kids to overthrow, and rebuild.

Today I went along to the debate organised by our local Youth Council & I’d love to underline the need to lower the voting age to 16. Young people don’t get involved in politics because it’s intangible to them at high school. There’s no point in teaching “civics” if the kids can’t access it. #nzpol

Stop saying “Rogue Agents”. Start saying “Spectacularly buggy, poorly written, untested code” No one describes a buffer overrun as “the code just decided it wanted to use more memory“. The “agents” aren’t “rogue”. The *programmers* are *fuckups*.

I came across a biscuit recipe that I wrote out by hand while looking for something else this morning. Decided to make them today. I decided to call them Double Chocolate Ginger Walnut Bickies. Big hit with the main family bickie eater. Recipe in the alt text.
12 dark brown biscuits with nuts on a silpat mat.

Recipe: Double Chocolate Ginger Walnut Bickies

Ingredients

    125 g Butter
    1 1/4 C Brown Sugar
    1 egg
    1 1/4 C Flour
    1/4 t Baking Powder
    1 t Baking Soda
    Pinch Salt
    1/3 C Cocoa Powder
    1T Ground Ginger
    3/4 C Chopped Nuts (Walnuts)
3/4 C Chocolate Bits (Whittaker's Dark Ghana chopped)

Takes 1 hour. Serves 24 Bickies.

    Preheat oven to 180C
    Cream butter, sugar, & egg.
Mix dry ingredients together then mix in with the wet ingredients.
    Stir in nuts and chocolate.
Drop biscuits (1 T) onto silicone baking pad.
Bake ~15 minutes (until set around the edges).
Cool on tray for 5 minutes.
Transfer to rack to finish cooling.
