Saw an article explaining how executives are urging a studio to embrace AI 'to lower costs and boost creativity'. Which is sort of like urging firefighters to start lighting fires, in order to reduce the number of fires, and make them better at preventing fires.

I'll belive the guys who insist that AI music is going to replace real music as soon as they're prepared to, in person, go up to a group of Swifties and firmly tell them that their mother goddess is obsolete I'll be generous and give them time to update their dental records beforehand

These bold predictions from tech bros would be a lot more worrying if they had the slightest inkling of an idea of how humans actually work See also; tech billionaires 'hacking' their own bodies to maximise health, via methods that would be laughed out of an undergraduate physiology class

"The Lowe down" was RIGHT THERE! If you have a punnable name but refuse to use it as such, you shouldn't be writing autobiographies. This is a hill I will die on.

Myth-Busting Neuroscience
Do we really only use 10% of our brains? Can a machine tell if we’re lying? And are you actually ‘left-brained’ or ‘right-brained’? Lucy Browning explores the neuroscience myths we love to believe, and what they reveal about how we engage with science.

I've been sent many 'creative' arguments and objections to #antidepressants lately. This is my new favourite. Also, for the #conspiracy enthusiasts, if I were a shadowy organisation wanting the masses to be productive but easily manipulated, removing their sex drives would be the LAST thing I'd do

Rare that vou get a news story where commenters can yell about people being both privileged AND scroungers, but we might have managed it here. #ADHD #Autism #neurodiversity l
More affluent parents have better access to
private diagnosis, and more scope to dedicate
time to jumping through the 637 hoops
required to access the benefits system in this
country
The Guardian
Young people's Pip claims for ADHD
and autism 'rising fastest in affluent
areas'
So l'm sure this won't fuel the "ADHD/Autism
diagnoses are just entitled people making stuff
up" narrative

A musician pushing a piano down twenty flights of stairs could claim they're producing more 'original sounds' than ever before. Even if it's true, it's not an achievement, and nobody wants to actually listen to that

This last week or so has been a bit perplexing for those of us who could never understand why Ed Sheeran was so popular in the first place. The musical equivalent of a frozen pizza base, or the default character skin in a video game.

Alan Ritchson seems an okay sort of feller.
From Twitter. fattys_revenge writes "Every season of Reacher so far has been great, and I understand why they may be avoiding the earlier novels due to their slightly less standalone nature, but every year I'm sad to learn that next season won't be the book where he kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp"
Alan Ritchson replies, "My favorite book. Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected."

ADHD is not being overdiagnosed, major Government report set to find
Hello and welcome to The Essential, where we dig deeper into today’s big stories.

How much help should someone with ADHD receive – in clinical support, employment and via social security? It’s a live debate in Whitehall, because of rising costs for the NHS and UK benefits. For some, the idea that far too many people are being diagnosed with ADHD or autism has taken root.

But what does the evidence show? A new, landmark Government review – authored by clinicians – has concluded that ADHD and autism are not widely over-diagnosed in the UK. Read our exclusive report here, which explains what the experts say ... and what they think should happen next.
