In case you missed it, the England fans at the world cup are enthusiastically chanting: "He's fat, with piles He's in the Epstein files Trump the Cuunt Trump the Cuuuuuntt!!!" I want to know how the pearl-clutching republican senators are going to handle it if they win.

If only there were some sort of beloved story about the perils of using a fundamentally corrupt technology created for evil ends, even if you yourself have pure motives. Ideally one which made it clear at the end that there can be no compromise with inherent evil, it must just be stamped out.

My toddler put a dried apricot in my water bottle and I didn't notice, took a sip in the middle of the night and it tasted so weird, shined my flashlight in there, the apricot had rehydrated and was like a perfectly round little glowing testicle in the bottom of my water bottle. Horrific

at last, we have invented retrophenology from the classic Discworld text Don’t Invent Retrophenology
Retrophrenology:
It works like this. Phrenology, as everyone knows, is a way of reading someone's character, aptitude and abilities by examining the bumps and hollows on their head. Therefore - according to the kind of logical thinking that characterizes the Ankh-Morpork mind - it should be possible to mould someone's character by giving them carefully graded bumps in all the right places. You can go into a shop and order an artistic temperament with a tendency to introspection and a side order of hysteria. What you actually get is hit on the head with a selection of different size mallets, but it creates employment and keeps the money in circulation, and that's the main thing.

🧵Why Talarico’s faith works 🧵 It’s not lost on me that Talarico is doing what clergyfolk from King to Heschel have done. His credential to critique the hijacking of God’s name by fanatics derives *directly* from how seriously he takes faith in his own life. That puts him in the prophetic tradition.

(1) Pulling out her texts as receipts is bad ass (2) As always: No matter what you do or how you position yourself, the GOP is going to paint you as a radical or a socialist. Might as well just do what you think is right. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/16/u...
They already are in Richmond. "She's the same thing as Mamdani in New York, except that Mamdani at least admits that he's a socialist," said Bryce E. Reeves, a Republican state senator, who said he would give Ms. Spanberger "an F for working across the aisle right now" because
"none of my colleagues have seen her."
Told of Mr. Reeves's remarks, Ms.
Spanberger reached across her desk for her cellphone and began scrolling through past messages from him. "That tone and tenor seems to differ very significantly," she said calmly, "from his direct outreach to me at the beginning of January, and the lengthy conversation we then had."
