Some family friends of mine live in suburban development in AZ. It has ~50 households and literally all of them are white, retired LEOs from CA. There was an HOA election that was so divisive several of the candidates who lost claimed voter fraud. I don’t think whiteness buys social trust tbqh.

i think the thing is that it is more or less impossible for an American mayor to govern identifiably from the left, because mayoral powers are not particularly ideological in character

the thing about impeaching Vought is that it will ruin his life. pull his kids and wife in for sixteen hour depositions. refer them all for perjury. scream in his face. when you're done, if it didn't work, do it again.

What is failure in impeachment? You know what Russ Vought can’t do when he is sitting an impeachment trial: f**k with the budget. He will busy being under the white hot lines of impeachment.

What everyone has to prepare for is the constitutional crisis to accelerate if the Democrats take the House and the Senate. Vought has been allowed by the Republicans to act with impunity, so have he will continue to ignore Congress. This is why you have to impeach him immediately.

Killed. NSF’s SBE was killed, in violation of law. The President does not have the power to choose to kill programs at a whim by defunding them. The imperial presidency was a mistake and we are in a separation of powers constitutional crisis.

I have submitted my resignation from the Department of War.
It has been an honor to support the mission of the Department. I remain a strong supporter of our nation's military and Secretary Hegseth's leadership.
I'm stepping back to focus on my book tour and midterms analysis in the months ahead.
I do want to say I'm disappointed by how Special Government Employees, not just myself, have been treated in public discourse.
The SGE program exists so that talented private citizens can serve their country without leaving their lives behind. We as a nation can find a better way to welcome those who want to serve their country.
I'm grateful to have had the opportunity. I wish the Department and Secretary Hegseth continued success.

Khashoggi's assassination was in hindsight one of the highly salient norm-shattering moments of impunity that helped recalibrate contemporary expectations for outrageous crimes: if you're rich & powerful enough, in the words of the President of the United States, "they just let you do it"

Below the text is an editorial cartoon in muted watercolor style that mimics the 9/11 attacks. Two skyscrapers rise against a pale sky, one labeled Lindsay Clancy, smoking and damaged with a small figure falling from it, and the other labeled Women, still intact. A pink-cabbed box truck labeled Cornell 7 flies through billowing smoke toward the second tower.

Will is 100% right. Has happened to multiple clients of mine. One judge (not my case) has said that this isn't really release and ordered the person *actually* released. But it's forcing us habeas attorneys to win our cases twice (or more)
On September 9, 2026, Respondents permitted Pablo F. to exit the building where
he was detained, but he was immediately swarmed by four ICE officers and handcuffed as
soon as he stepped outside. (Doc. No. 25-3 at 4:48:45–4:49:26.)3
 The officers drove him
to the back of the Whipple building and returned him to a holding cell. (Doc. No. 21 ¶¶ 8–
9; Doc. No. 25 ¶ 5.) During this encounter, officers dislocated Pablo F.’s shoulder. (Doc.
No. 21 ¶ 7.)4
Pablo F. now bringsthis Motion seeking to enforce the Court’s Order granting
the Petition.Again, Respondents make no attempt whatsoever to support their assertion that
Pablo F. was released. Absent any such argument, the Court cannot agree that a reasonable
person would have felt free to leave when exiting the detention facility and immediately
being stopped by ICE officers. Likewise, absent some argument, the Court necessarily
concludes that Pablo F. was subject to restraints not shared by the public generally when
he took one step outside of the detention facility and was immediately stopped by ICE
officers who forcibly returned him to a detention cell. Because Respondents do not make
any legal argument that Pablo F. was ever meaningfully released from custody, the Court
grants the motion and orders Pablo F.’s release.6
6 To be clear, Pablo F. is not arguing, and the Court is not concluding, that an order of
release in a habeas matter renders unlawful any future arrests. Rather, the Court reaches
the narrow conclusion that because Respondents advance no legal argument in this case to
support their assertion that Pablo F. was released from custody, and because the
uncontested facts show that ICE officers immediately swarmed Pablo F. as soon as he
stepped out of the building, Pablo F. was not released from custody.
