The reason Dems have to investigate and prosecute - legally or administratively, as appropriate - where there is evidence of wrong doing is to prevent those found guilty from ever touching the levers of power again. I don't care if it's getting Al Capone on tax evasion. Get it all on the books.

Fun story from circa 2004: after having to spend six months in drydock to replace a propeller shaft because of lack of PMS, the LAKE ERIE was pulling out of Guam when they hit a coral reef, broke its sonar dome, and the CO lie to C7F and said it was a “rogue wave”. Ask me how I know.

We're a society plagued by bad faith and widespread indulgence of it. Say "free speech" while unsubtly meaning "I say whatever I want, you have to listen, and you can't say anything I don't like back." Voila, a Free Speech Crisis! Here, anti-civility groups say "civility." And the money flows in.

I would just like to note that the Allies started winning WW2 when they moved from naming their tanks after racist Confederate loser traitors (Stuart, Lee) to naming them after righteous Union winners (Sherman). The British caught on to this earlier, renamed the Lee the Grant, and never looked back.
