Russian bot traffic has dropped to nearly 0 after Ukraine struck a Yandex data center in Vladimir, Russia
• Source Network: AS13238 YANDEX – Yandex LLC (Russian Federation)
• Traffic Breakdown: Prior to the drop, bot traffic accounted for roughly 99.6% of requests compared to 0.4% human traffic.
• Event Cause: The sudden plunge to zero on October 11, 2026, corresponds to a reported military/drone attack on Yandex's data center facility in Vladimir, Russia—marking the third reported attack on Yandex data infrastructure since October 8.

The Yandex datacenter in Vladimir received drone sanctions, and is currently being migrated to the cloud. According to the Yandex status board, all Yandex services are completely unavailable in Russia. Maybe targeting our datacenters was a bad idea. Enjoy your digital detox.📵

I agree with the 2026 Vancouver Police Department that you need to centre data when talking about crime and perceptions, and do it through long-term trends instead of short term fluctuations or individual stats. But that’s not how the 2020-2022 VPD talked about crime and perceptions.

This is a poor take that suggests Owen Jones doesn't know much about Russia in the 1990s, including Russia-US or wider Russia-West relations in the 1990s. By giving only one part of the story, he is repeating the Russian political elite's self-serving line that it was all the West's fault. Long 🧵

“I met with this [Haitian] guy who has a 1-year-old, and he was apprehended after ICE spotted him at a gas station in Springfield, around late August,” Kersh told me. “I was asking him questions at Butler County [jail], and he talked about how he came here: He got an appointment through a church or something like that [when President Joe Biden was in office]. He met with Border Patrol, and they sat him down and shook his hand. And then his voice broke. Through tears, he said: ‘They shook my hand and they said, ‘Welcome to the United States,’ and yesterday they arrested me.’ He’s just crying. He had to stop for a good solid minute to catch himself. To me, that really encapsulated the confusion and fear for so many people now. They were welcomed into this country and now the same agency is arresting them and throwing them in jail.”

This is a good example of what @ntusikov.bsky.social and I have been warning about for years: US tech companies are uniquely susceptible to extra-legal US government pressure (Google isn’t compelled to change Lake Ontario’s name.) Because of this, they represent a direct threat to Canadian autonomy.

Americans hear "51st state" as Trump trolling. Canadians hear it as an existential threat to their sovereignty. That gap in perception is why Carney can't afford to look conciliatory, even if the economics of retaliation don't add up. This isn't just a trade war anymore.
