Agree. But, also, I would love to see the feds do a giant bulk purchase from New Flyer. We have a world leading electric bus maker in Winnipeg. The feds have fiscal capacity. Seems like an easy win very much in step with the supply-side approach the Carney team has taken to emissions reductions.

this is a good thread! part of why we need to keep reminding people that we’re still in a housing crisis is different polities are succeeding (a bit) on different fronts Halifax is building apartment buildings, still needs more and faster, and also is building almost no condos and houses

A quick vocab lesson for the president: if you buy something from me, then we have a "trade deficit". It doesn't mean you got ripped off. It doesn't mean it's unfair. All it means is you ended up with more stuff and I ended up with more cash. www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwJqtzkwYQE

Les auteurs, le modérateur et le traducteur jase leur livre dans une librairie montréalaise. La foule au lancement.

We can have values or realism; it is pretty hard to have both, even when we should & can avoid extremes. I think what the Carney government is trying to convey is that we will be making some pretty inconsistent compromises to survive. But it doesn’t sound as tidy. apple.news/AeALbv3ypTU2...

I guess I should be writing about this rather than tweeting, but the airport privatization discussion is entirely divorced from reality on both sides. By the rhetoric, you'd think that either the prospect of European-style airports threatens the Canadian social fabric or it's a panacea. Unmoored.
