it rhymes i think with the way some people love metrics and "hard numbers" and get very uncomfortable with the fact that quantitative measurements are actually a subset of qualitative measurements

1. Tonight at Gillette Stadium, Zach Bryan, one of the biggest country music artists in the world, wore a Free Palestine shirt onstage. Gillette Stadium is owned by Robert Kraft, who pushed Ed Sheeran and his promoter to drop Macklemore from his tour. Bryan isn’t just a major country artist.

A picture of a 3-inch anti-generative AI rainbow holographic sticker with a formline design on it. The design has a black border with sparkles lining it. Text within the border reads “you cannot automate the human experience.” The formline design depicts a decapitated robot head with vacant eyes. Next to it are two ravens, with one raven perched on the head with a piece of the robot’s antenna in its beak.

The perfect way to put it. They found a way to worm a subscription between you and your normal work.
A screenshot of a post on Threads by Joe Hill. The post reads: "Here’s a thought about the purveyors of AI. They aren’t selling assistance—they’re selling dependency. You give up on acquiring one skill after another, give up on the knotty, meaningful struggle to acquire those skills and AI takes over. It isn’t freeing up time so you can make more of yourself. It’s encouraging cognitive surrender so you can be less."

I keep seeing Carney stans saying building fossil fuel infrastructure is a way to deal with Trump's threats. Really? Canada has to build infrastructure that'll last decades and won't even be finished for years to deal with a threat that'll be gone within 3 years? Your fear has made you very stupid.

It's precisely because of the explanatory power these disciplines have for seeing fascism as the performance of masculinity that they are under attack. It exposes them for what they are: not inherent, natural and indomitable, but putting on a costume and playing house with national politics.

It's great to see tailoring accommodate such extreme movement today. This level of tailoring was a bit more common in the past, as you can see in old films featuring Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly, but many modern suits will lift off the wearer's neck even when they're just walking.

"The AI boom is being sold as inevitable progress, but the real question is not whether artificial intelligence can do useful things in theory. It is who owns it, who profits from it, what it is mostly being used for, and who pays the environmental and political bill when the hype turns into microchip manufacturing plants, data centres, rising power demand, water stress, surveillance and attacks on democratic life."
