I'm becoming known for rejecting unnecessary apologies--with kindness and love, but firmly. Women & those with minoritized identities, especially, apologize too much, IMO. Not checking work emails on a Sunday is beautiful, not apology-worthy. . I practice radical acceptance of humanity. #PassItOn

Distrust is pervasive in higher ed, and it partners with competition to make too many of us miserable.

I've written about the research on men in #HigherEd, so I understand this is a challenge that makes our whole society worse off--i.e., more men with less education. AND YET. In this moment, why is the leading @insidehighered.com Student Success story about how we need more Y chromosomes on campus?
A photo of four men in suits sitting on a dais with the US Capitol building behind them illustrates the story with the headline, "Colleges are losing young men. What brings them back?" And the deck: "Speakers at the Symposium on Young American Men examine why fewer men are pursuing college and what higher ed can do to better engage them."

"The AI boom is being sold as inevitable progress, but the real question is not whether artificial intelligence can do useful things in theory. It is who owns it, who profits from it, what it is mostly being used for, and who pays the environmental and political bill when the hype turns into microchip manufacturing plants, data centres, rising power demand, water stress, surveillance and attacks on democratic life." New analysis from @propublica.org: Ectopic Pregnancy Deaths Have Nearly Doubled. It’s Worse in States With Abortion Bans. www.propublica.org/article/ecto...
A chart showing the rate of deaths after an ectopic pregnancy, comparing states that banned abortion after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022 with those that did not. At the start of the chart, in 2014, the rate is higher in states with abortion bans, but the rates in the two groups of states are not far apart. The rate increases in both groups of states, but the climb is much steeper in states that banned abortion.
