Continuous pavements are now on Dalry Road. They gives pedestrians an uninterrupted route for crossing, where they have priority over vehicles. It also encourages vehicles to give way and reinforces the Highway Code. Please take care and look out for others as you get used to the new road layout.

We haven't really had a true planning system since the early 1980s. The planning system is really a management process for private sector development - setting a series of hoops to be jumped through, in the hope of producing development that serves (or at least maintains) the public interest.

A fascinating exercise in naming things really. You'd expect a plan to have an outcome, whereas 'City Guidance 2040' might make more sense.

Never forget, when it comes to whether or not a collision happens, and whether or not someone is killed or injured, speed is ALWAYS a factor. #UrbanTruth #SpeedKills
Background shows a collision involving cars and drivers. Texting quotes says “speed wasn’t a factor” which is what police and media often say when someone wasn’t obviously speeding, even when the speed limit is too high. Safety alone isn't enough to get more women cycling. Cities must start building cohesive networks connecting the myriad places women need to go. This means looking beyond “Can women cycle safely here?” and asking: “Can women use this network to live their lives?” LISTEN: www.dw.com/en/why-arent...

Our planet is heating faster than at any time in the geological record. That's terrifying. But here's the hopeful part: most of us are worried and want action — we just stay silent, assuming no one else cares. 7 in 10 people rarely or never talk about it. So the silence feeds itself

Society (and car design) is moving on, and ironically, it’s the built environment and years of policy that lead to the prevalence of car requirements in the first place that’s causing this issue. The reality is: if you have specific requirements (home charging), you can’t live anywhere you want.
