Van parked on double yellows right across the dropped kerb to cycleway 27 in Islington leaving very limited space to pass and no sight line. No problem though because no cars have been blocked in!

To be fair, most industries now follow this broad approach, to varying degrees of compliance. The outlier is road transport, which treats mass death casualties & destruction with a shrug & just carries on with the same deadly systems.

3 July 1970: 99 days after the original Gallows Corner flyover was opened. Thankfully we have learned the lessons from this by now.
The spokesman said: "It's the jams you used to get at Gallows Corner just moved on a few miles. With traffic moving quickly past the corner it is getting to the other roundabouts quickly."

Great report and polling from @cyclinguk.bsky.social re: pluralistic ignorance - where someone supports a policy while believing their neighbours wouldn’t agree. Half support new cycle routes but believe only a third agree. Likewise for reducing speed limits. School streets greater (70% v 49%).

Floating bus stops are a simple way to make busy streets work better for everyone. Buses do not get held up by cyclists, while people cycling get a continuous, protected route instead of being forced into traffic. Safer cycling, quicker bus journeys and streets that work for people.

Satire but there’s truth in it: Bikes offer transport freedom without lining the pockets of Oligarchs & motor corporations. Of course everyone benefits from better health & less motor-harm & all that spare cash still gets spent boosting the economy on your local car-free high street. 🚲 👍

I snapped this photo on Earlham Grove in Forest Gate the other day. Before Newham Council introduced the Atherton LTN, this street was a heavily used rat run. Today, it’s safe enough for parents to cycle home with their children. Trading a driver's shortcut for safe, everyday school runs.

I see a few cyclists skipping a red light at this junction but I’ve never seen a cyclist do this. Don’t worry though; this is just the usual deadly danger & destruction from motor vehicles. As you were - keep talking about cyclist behaviour.

Virtually every time I try to cross busy main road, this happens. Far more dangerous & less accessible than a bus stop with a cycle track, & happening everywhere. Yet no moral panic & media hysteria.

Britain has done pretty well on these PISA education rankings but it is a bit worrying half of students think you can rely on ‘common sense’ over scientific evidence. Puts some of our active travel misinformation troubles into context.
